Sanjay Dutt may be gearing up to see his life played on the big screen in the upcoming film Sanju, but the actor who was released from prison a while back is enjoying himself as a free man. Today on the death anniversary of his father Sunil Dutt, Sanjay took to the social networking platform Instagram sharing an emotion filled heart touching message in remembrance of his dad.
Posting a throwback image that Dutt and his father shared, Sanjay posted a black and white image saying, “Wish you could see me as a free man. Love you… Miss you”. The emotional post struck a chord not only with Sanjay Dutt’s fans but people across the globe for its heart-breaking content. For the uninitiated, Sunil Dutt who breathed his last on May 25, 2005, a year before his son Sanjay Dutt completed his jail term and was released as a free man.
Back on the work front, Sanjay Dutt will next be seen in the film Torbaaz which he is currently shooting for. Following this, the actor will also be seen in Karan Johar’s Kalank.
Boney Kapoor is a broken man and the reason is too obvious. He lost his wife Sridevi who also was the love of his life about two months ago due to accidental drowning. Now, he is seen piecing his life back together and has recently revealed that he is finding moving on very difficult. His elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor’s first film Dhadak is all set to release this year and he is busy trying to make up for Sridevi’s presence in his daughters’ life. Speaking about this difficult phase he said that he is trying to be both a mother and a father to the children. He also said that since she was suddenly gone, these past months have been very difficult. Everything went on a freeze-pause in their lives. There were so many things left unsaid and undone but he is finally picking up the pieces again trying to put his life together for his kids’ sake. He revealed later that he has still not come to terms with Sridevi’s death and feels extremely empty.
Boney is making a biopic on Sridevi and has even registered three titles. He was present with his daughters in Delhi a few days ago to receive an award on behalf of Sri. She was awarded the best actress award for her smashing performance in Mom. On her passing away he had written in a press note, “To the world she was their Chandni… the actor par excellence… their Sridevi… but to me she was my love, my friend, mother to our girls… my partner. To our daughters, she was their everything… their life. She was the axis around which our family ran.”

It is known that the remakes and reboots are kind of Hollywood’s thing. In the recent past, many remakes like JUMANJI and MURDER IN THE ORIENT EXPRESS have made its way to the big screen. While some have done a little justice to the original movies, others have failed to impress the audience. Going on the same lines is the Bruce Willis’ gritty violent action-thriller, DEATH WISH, a remake of 1974 controversial film. For the uninitiated, the original DEATH WISH film starred Charles Bronson, Hope Lange, Vincent Gardenia, Jack Wallace, and Stuart Margolin among others. The original film was a dark drama which revolved around a man who becomes a one man vigilante after his wife’s murder and assault on his daughter. Will this Bruce Willis version of the film impress the audiences? Lets analyse.
DEATH WISH (2018) follows the story of a doctor Paul Kersey (Bruce Willis) who is leading a normal life working in an ER in Chicago until tragedy hits him. His wife Lucy Kersey (Elisabeth Shue) is murdered and daughter Jordan Kersey (Camilla Morrone) is in coma after a break-in at their house. This leaves him grieving and frustrated at the same time because the lack of the progress on the case by the police. Eventually, Paul Kersey decides to take justice in his own hands and follows the path of vigilantism. From getting untraceable weapons to taking lessons from Youtube, Paul takes the vigilante path to seek vengeance. Not only does he question that his actual profession as a doctor is about saving lives but somehow he has chosen now to take crime out of the streets. When he does get the lead on the goons who had broken into his house, he plans to seek revenge.
Elli Roth’s DEATH WISH starts off a little slow as the story of the family is set up first and every key character is introduced. Even after the tragedy takes place, Bruce Willis’ character takes time for the reality to sink in, while his daughter recovers from her injuries. However, once Willis turns into a vigilante, the film goes into a fast track mode with its action thriller theme. The best part about the film is that director Roth maintains subtle humour throughout the film, especially after a doctor who has never even used a gun, turns into an amateur vigilante at night and shoots down the bad guys.
Bruce Willis who essays the role of Paul Kersey is just as good as he is in his previous films. Every DIE HARD fan knows what he is capable of when it comes to acting and action. He takes over the role of Charles Bronson but nothing like the original character. He is angry, flippant and just in shooting spree. Dean Morris of Breaking Bad fame essays the role of Detective Kevin Raines. He makes a strong impact on screen. Elisabeth Shue, who essays the role of Lucy Kersey, has less screen time but is good in whatever time she has. Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Paul Kersey’s ex-con brother, has literally nothing to contribute in the story. Camila Morrone is impressive in her role as Jordan Kersey.
The screenplay by Joe Carnahan is average. It does build an emotional connect with the Kersey family but one does feel that the writing could have been stronger, especially when you have such a stellar cast to perform the material on screen.
Cinematographer Rogier Stoffers uses stunning camera angles, especially while shooting the city at night during the vigilante scenes. Mark Goldbatt’s editing is tight and crisp. Ludwig Goransson’s music is catchy and helps build the momentum. The action scenes are shot very well as the gun fights are quick and action is very situational.
On the whole, DEATH WISH is an action thriller which has a basic storyline but manages to entertain with its action scenes and subtle humour. The film will appeal to the hardcore Bruce Willis fans.
Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Death of Superman. This is far from the first time that the famed comic book storyline has been brought to the screen, but we've yet to get a truly faithful adaptation. While it's clear based on this footage that this movie is taking some hefty liberties with the source material, it does look like we could be in for a much more faithful interpretation of the seminal DC Comics story.
The footage mostly focuses on Doomsday's arrival to Earth and his ensuing battle with the various members of the Justice League. They all get their butts handed to them pretty badly, as Doomsday is a formidable foe. After all, he is the being that managed to actually kill Superman. That climactic bit is teased pretty heavily here as well. This looks like it's going to be an action-packed animated DC adventure that could get pretty emotional. But as with many things comic book related, the stakes are never that high, or at least not permanent, for characters like Superman.
In The Death of Superman, when a hulking monster emerges from an underground resting place and begins a mindless rampage, the Justice League is quickly called in to stop the colossal force of nature. But it soon becomes apparent that only Superman can stand against the monstrosity that has been nicknamed Doomsday. Battling their way throughout America, the two fight to a standstill as they reach the heart of Metropolis. Going punch for punch, Superman finally ends the threat of Doomsday as he throws one last punch and collapses forever.
When DC killed Superman, it became much more than just an event for comic book readers. It was a true pop culture phenomenon, with the book selling out at retailers around the country. In the world of DC Comics, Superman stayed dead for a bit, but was later revived. Warner Bros. will also be adapting the second part of this story in an animated feature, which will arrive in 2019, making for a complete, two-part Death and Return of Superman arc. These DC animated movies tend to do very well in the eyes of fans, but this story has been tackled before. Superman: Doomsday previously took on The Death of Superman story, but only in a very loose fashion. That being the case, it didn't really satisfy those who want to see the tale told in a more faithful manner. Maybe this will do the trick.
The movie stars Jerry O'Connell (Superman), Rebecca Romijn (Lois Lane), Rainn Wilson (Lex Luthor), Rosario Dawson (Wonder Woman), Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern), Christopher Gorham (Flash), Matt Lanter (Aquaman), Shemar Moore (Cyborg) and Jason O'Mara (Batman). Warner Bros. has yet to set an exact release date, but the movie will arrive this summer on Blu-ray/DVD and digital platforms.
