Mowgli Trailer: Andy Serkis Puts A Dark Spin on The Jungle Book

[ad_1]

Andy Serkis wasn't kidding around when he first declared that his Mowgli movie will be a lot darker than the story Disney told through the Jungle Book. Rudyard Kipling's source material was changed quite a bit when Disney first adapted the story back in 1967. Walt Disney decided to take out some of the darker elements in order to make The Jungle Book an animated movie for all ages. And it worked. The Jungle Book was a huge success for Disney and was again back in the public eye when Jon Favreau directed a live-action version of the story in 2016. However, Andy Serkis has unveiled the first trailer from his Mowgli, which is sticking closer to Rudyard Kipling's source material.

Disney's live-action version of The Jungle Book was basically a retelling of the animated version of the story that came out in 1967. Andy Serkis' Mowgli promises a darker version of the story and the trailer delivers. Benedict Cumberbatch is downright frightening as Shere Khan while Andy Serkis' Baloo is more of a drill sergeant this time around. Rohan Chand's performance as Mowgli is perfectly teased in the first trailer, as is Christian Bale as Bagheera.

Andy Serkis directed Mowgli with a script written by Callie Kloves and the movie was originally set to come out in 2016, but Warner Bros. decided to wait to spend more time on the digital effects. Coincidentally, 2016 was the same year that Disney's live-action version of The Jungle Book hit theaters, which was also a factor in pushing the release date back. Mowgli was first placed into development in 2012 and even had Ron Howard's name was attached to direct at one point before Serkis stepped up to the task.

According to Andy Serkis, Mowgli will challenge people's perceptions of the Jungle Book story. While there will be some differences from Rudyard Kipling's 1894 book, it largely sticks close to the source material. The motion capture maestro' s dark take on the beloved story has been gaining hype over the last handful of years, which will only grow once the first Mowgli footage starts to spread around online.

Mowgli hits theaters on October 19th and in addition to Andy Serkis, Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Rohan Chand, the movie also stars Matthew Rhys, Tom Hollander, Cate Blanchett, Freida Pinto, Peter Mullan, Naomie Harris, Eddie Marsan, and Jack Reynor. Though people have been curious of Serkis' take on the Jungle Book story, it will be interesting to see how the general public responds to Mowgli. Fans of Rudyard Kipling's book will more than likely enjoy and appreciate the darker tone, but will it be able to conquer the box office? One thing is for sure: Mowgli certainly looks awesome. You can check out the first trailer of Andy Serkis' Mowgli below, thanks to Warner Bros.

Sharknado 6 Teaser Trailer Goes Back in Time, Reveals Official Title

[ad_1]

SyFy's insanely popular Sharknado series will officially ending with Sharknado 6, which just got the official title of The Last Sharknado: It's About Time. In addition to the title, SyFy also released a brief teaser trailer to get fans excited for the late summer release date. SyFy is going to celebrate the release of the sixth and final movie in the series with an entire week of shark themed programming during what they've titled Sharknado week, which is coming a few weeks after the official Shark Week, so it's like getting two Shark Weeks. Sharknado 6 will premiere at the end of the Sharknado week on Sunday, August 19th.

Things looked pretty bleak at the end of Sharknado 5: Global Swarming, with Ian Ziering's Fin character alone after the Earth had been destroyed. In Sharknado 6, Fin must go back in time to stop the original Sharknado and save the world. One has to wonder if the Avengers 4 screenwriters knew about this plot before writing the upcoming Marvel movie. The official synopsis reads.

"All is lost, or is it? Fin unlocks the time-traveling power of the Sharknados in order to save the world and resurrect his family. In his quest, Fin fights Nazis, dinosaurs, knights, and even takes a ride on Noah's Ark. This time, it's not how to stop the Sharknados, it's when."

The brief teaser trailer for Sharknado 6 obviously doesn't show much, but it promises carnage across history. Fin is going to fight Nazis, which leads one to believe that a shark could maybe prevent the Holocaust from happening by eating Hitler. Hopefully they learn from Deadpool 2 and make sure it's the adult Hitler instead of the baby version of the dictator. Elsewhere, Fin is going fight dinosaurs, knights, and catch a ride on Noah's Ark. Basically, Sharknado 6 is going to have a lot of everything.

In addition to Ian Ziering, Sharknado 6 will also star Tera Reid and Vivica A. Fox along with a whole bunch of celebrity cameos that are being kept under wraps for the time being. Famous weatherman Al Roker, Benji Bronk from the Howard Stern Show, Corey Taylor from Slipknot, and a ton of other celebrities from all walks of life have had small roles in each of the past five Sharknado movies. Since Sharknado will reportedly be the last, expect quite a bit of star power behind this one.

Sharknado 6 will premiere August 19th on the SyFy Network, so there's still plenty of time to catch up and re-watch the first five Sharknado installments before the end comes. And while the wait seems long now, a full-length trailer is expected to be released in the coming weeks to truly get the hype pumping for Sharknado 6. It looks like the final movie will be the most absurd out of all of the previous installments, which is saying a lot. You can check out the first teaser trailer below, via the SyFy Network YouTube channel.

Michael B. Jordan Burns It All Down in New Fahrenheit 451 Trailer

[ad_1]

HBO has released the first full-length trailer for the long awaited Fahrenheit 451 remake featuring Michael B. Jordan as Guy Montag, a man who is starting to question is job. This adaptation of Ray Bradbury's iconic novel has been in the development since 2016, and we've previously seen small teases since then, but this is the first real look at what we're in for when the movie debuts at the end of May on HBO. The new Fahrenheit 451 trailer is the best look at the plot so far, as well as the feel and tone of the story, which fall in line with the classic tale.

The previous teaser trailer for Fahrenheit 451 told us that books are evil, and they need to all be burned. The new trailer sheds some light on why they have to be burned in this dystopian landscape, which leads Michael B. Jordan's Guy Montag to question the reasoning behind all of the burning. He asks aloud if it's true that fireman used to put out fires as opposed to setting them. An A.I. voice replies that it's a myth and indicates that Montag might not be feeling okay.

Guy begins to question what's going on around him more and more until the end of the Fahrenheit 451 trailer, where he's clearly on the run. Michael Shannon plays Captain Beatty and Michael B. Jordan's Montag is seen asking him, "why do we burn?" This is question that will be answered more in-depth in the movie, like the book, but Beatty alludes to making everybody equal again, which as one can tell, isn't really the case at all. Beatty says, "We are not born equal. We must be made equal by the fire...and then we can be happy." Montag isn't satisfied by the answer and he can be seen reading later in the trailer, looking for his own answers.

Anyone who his familiar with Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 knows that Guy Montag's quest doesn't end with just wanting to read more books. Montag meets Clarisse, who urges Montag to go even further into his rebellion, risking his life. Bradbury's book is already pretty grim and dark, but Michael Shannon has promised that the HBO movie will be a "modernized, gritty take" on the Fahrenheit 451 story. The movie is coming at the perfect time since some of the stuff that Ray Bradbury predicted in 1953 has started to come true.

Reading is fundamental, but not in the dystopian world of Fahrenheit 451 where knowledge is dangerous. The movie will finally air May 19th on HBO after a few years of development. The story tackles censorship and has ironically been banned by schools from administration who did not understand what the book was about. Another main theme of Fahrenheit 451 is about the dangers of an illiterate society infatuated with mass media and the threat of minority and special interest groups to books, which remains just as true today, if not more, than it did when it was first written. You can check out the first full-length trailer for Fahrenheit 451 below, courtesy of the HBO YouTube channel.

Solo: A Star Wars Story Trailer #2: I've Got A Really Good Feeling About This

[ad_1]

Lucasfilm has finally released the final, full-length trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story. Ron Howard promised that the new trailer would be released soon, but many did not expect it to be released on a Sunday. Howard has used social media to regularly update the progress of the Star Wars movie since he took over last summer. Most of the pictures that he shared were pretty cryptic and have since started to shed light on the status of the production. As of last week, the score was finished, and the digital effects were almost complete.

We received our first look at the Solo movie in February during the Super Bowl rush and Star Wars fans criticized the debut footage for not showing enough of Alden Ehrenreich's young Han Solo. However, the new footage has more of the young Solo while being extra careful not to give anything away. The new trailer gives just enough to leave fans wanting a lot more, which is exactly what a good trailer is supposed to do. The good thing is that there's only a little over a month to go before Solo hits theaters.

One of the villains in the Solo is Enfys Nest and we recently learned that the character is played by a woman, though the identity of the actor behind the mask remains unknown. Enfys Nest leads a band of marauders called the Cloud Riders and according to new reports, the character actor is contracted for two more movies. There's still plenty that isn't clear about the character, but it certainly seems that a sequel could come along, depending on the success of Solo.

As for tracking, Solo is looking to debut just below Rogue One, is set to take in $150 million opening weekend, which is just shy of the $155 million that Rogue One pulled in. Additionally, the forthcoming standalone Star Wars movie is estimated to end up with a final box office total of anywhere from $390 million to $475 million, which would put it below Rogue One's total of over $532 million. Solo is coming out right in the middle of a very busy summer box office with Infinity War and Deadpool 2 in close proximity.

After months of waiting, we finally have the new trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story and it looks even better than the initial footage that we were treated to at the beginning of the year. From here on out, this is the last full-length trailer that we will get until the movie hits theaters on May 25th. However, we will more than likely get some new TV spots and some more promotional tie-in commercials along the way. It looks that the promotional campaign has taken a cue from The Last Jedi and Infinity War with a highlight on secrecy, so we won't really have to worry about spoilers until Solo premieres at Cannes on May 15th. You can check out the new trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story below, provided by StarWars.com.

Future World Trailer Throws James Franco Into an Apocalyptic Wasteland

[ad_1]

Welcome to paradise. The new trailer for Future World, the latest James Franco movie, has arrived. And it takes the actor-director into an Apocalyptic Wasteland, surrounding him with quite the eclectic cast. This is Franco's directorial follow-up to The Disaster Artist, but don't look for the same type of critical praise. This is standard issue Drive-In movie fare with a twist.

You can watch the fight to save humanity in the new trailer for Future World, which was actually co-directed by James Franco and Bruce Thierry. Suki Waterhouse joins in on the fun. The two are joined by Jeffrey Wahlberg, Margarita Levieva, Snoop Dogg, Geirge Lewis Jr., and Cliff "Method Man" Smith. That's more than enough cast for any movie, to be sure. But both Lucy Liu and Milla Jovovich are also coming along for the ride.

This apocalyptic thriller follows Prince (Jeffrey Wahlberg) as he travels from a desert oasis through dangerous barren waste lands to find a near-mythical medicine to save the life of the Queen, his mother (Lucy Liu). You catch it in select theaters, On Demand, and on iTunes & Amazon May 25, 2018! Though, it will be facing off against some pretty stiff competition, as that's the same day Lucasfilm and Disney are unleashing Solo: A Star Wars Story into theaters. And we probably don't have to guess which one is going to capture the country's attention first. But if you want to stay away from the box office crowds, this is a nice streaming alternative.

Inside a desert oasis, a queen (Lucy Liu) lays dying as her son Prince (Jeffrey Wahlberg) travels across barren waste lands to find a near-mythical medicine to save her life. After evading violent raiders on motorbikes led by the Warlord (James Franco) and his enforcer (Cliff "Method Man" Smith), Prince meets Ash (Suki Waterhouse), the Warlord's robot sex companion-assassin who's in search of her own soul. As Prince is captured by the Druglord (Milla Jovovich), the Warlord's forces roar in, and Prince fights to save the remnants of humanity.

Directors James Franco and Bruce Thierry Cheung are working from a script written by Bruce Thierry Cheung, Jeremy Craig Cheung, Jay Davis. The movie is produced by Scott Reed, Andrea Iervolino, Monika Bacardi, Vince Jolivette, Jay Davis. Arriving from Lionsgate Premiere, the movie is rated R for violence, sexual content/nudity, language and drug use.

This is James Franco's first major release since he was accused of sexual misconduct by a number of former students. The allegations mostly got Franco shut down at the Oscars after he walked away with a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a comedy. The news kind of fell out of the media cycle, so it will be interesting to see how Franco is welcomed back into the spotlight for his work rather than his notorious alleged activities. You can check out the trailer and poster here.

The Meg Trailer: Jason Statham Vs. the World's Biggest Shark

[ad_1]

It's almost unbelievable. But here we are. The first trailer for The Meg has arrived. And it's nothing short of a miracle. It seems like forever that this movie has been in development. Based on the nationwide bestseller, it takes the idea of a shark attack and bloats it like a dead whale to unimaginable proportions.

In The Meg, A deep-sea submersible, part of an international undersea observation program, has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific. With its crew trapped inside.  With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew, and the ocean itself, from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as theMegalodon

What no one could have imagined is that, years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature.  Now, teamed with Suyin, he must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone trapped below. Jason Statham (Spy, Furious 7, The Expendables films) leads an ensemble cast. He is joined by award-winning Chinese actress Li Bingbing (Transformers: Age of Extinction, Forbidden Kingdom, The Message). The movie is directed by Jon Turteltaub (the National Treasure movies, Last Vegas).

The first image from The Meg arrived just last week, as Jason Statham gave an extensive interview about his experiences making the movie. He had this to say about his preparation for the role of a guy who likes to get in the deep water with the world's most dangerous sharks.

"On the early stages of the prep, we took a trip to Fiji, and we went diving with some bull sharks. They hand-feed them and it's a spectacular thing to see. These things are three meters in length, huge big things. There were 20 or 30 of these things, and they were hand-feeding (them) big tuna heads, and we got very, very close, and it was a spectacular moment. To swim in close proximity to a big, three-meter shark, is to be recommended to all and everyone."

The actor went into more details, describing some of the SCUBA diving trips he had to endure. He says this.

"You know, it's funny, because you get anxiety when you're on the boat. But once you get in the ocean, things take a very different turn. You get very relaxed, and when you're in their environment, it's quite a tranquil sort of thing, the anxiety goes away completely. It's remarkable to experience. All of the fear, or the perceived fear, is done in your own head before you get down there with them. Once you're swimming down there with all the other divers, it's phenomenal. It's one of the greatest experiences you could have, for me anyway. I'm a big SCUBA diver fanatic. Wherever I am in the world, if I get a chance to get in the ocean, I do."

Jaws is, was and always be the ultimate shark movie. And people hold a fondness for Deep Blue Sea. It looks like we may finally have a contender for another classic in the small genre that is the true Shark attack movie, even though cable has been bombarded with cheap knock-offs. Courtesy of Warner Bros., welcome to The Meg.

Story of IT Trailer Promises to Expose the Truth Behind Pennywise

[ad_1]

Stephen King's IT has been a beloved horror novel from the very beginning. However, it was the 1990 adaptation that made Pennywise the clown a horror icon. Now, a new documentary will take a deep-dive look at the 1990 adaptation, which was done as a two-part miniseries that more or less serves as two short movies or one long movie. The second trailer for Pennywise: The Story of IT promises an awful lot for hardcore horror and Stephen King fans.

The trailer was released by Dead Mouse Productions and, though it isn't what one would call flashy, as it mostly just revolves around cheap animations and text on a screen, what the trailer spells out does sound of interest to many. This new IT documentary will include tons of interviews with the cast and crew, new photos from the making of the miniseries, as well as exclusive behind the scenes footage. If you have a fondness for Tim Curry's portrayal of Pennywise the clown, that could make this documentary well-worth your time. But it is a little hard to tell, since they include very little actual footage in this teaser. Here's what to expect, according to the makers of the documentary.

"Pennywise: The Story of IT' is a feature length documentary from the makers of 'RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop' and 'You're so cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night'. Featuring over 40 interviews with the cast and crew (including Tim Curry) of Tommy Lee Wallace's 1990 TV classic 'Stephen King's IT.' This documentary will explore the legacy of the show as well as the cultural impact that Pennywise has had on a generation of fans. With hours of never-before-seen behind the scenes footage and exclusive photos 'Pennywise' will be the ultimate celebration of this much loved classic and will also be a lasting tribute to the remarkable work of the one of cinema's greatest character actors Mr. Tim Curry."

Even if this doesn't have the most amazing production value, the timing couldn't really be better. Director Andy Muschietti's movie adaptation of IT wound up becoming a cultural phenomenon last year, ultimately grossing $700 million at the worldwide box office and becoming the highest-grossing horror movie ever. While there are many factors that contributed to the success, a certain amount of the initial excitement as no doubt fueled by the nostalgia and love many have for the 1990 version of IT.

There's also Bill Skarsgard's instantly iconic take on Pennywise, which wouldn't really have been possible without what Tim Curry did before him. Andy Muschietti even snuck Curry's Pennywise into the IT movie as a doll in one scene. So IT is as popular as it has ever been, and many horror fans are feeling a little impatient while waiting for IT: Chapter 2 to get underway, which is set for release on September 6, 2019. This documentary could help fill the void. Be sure to check out the trailer for Pennywise: The Story of IT, courtesy of the Dead Mouse Productions YouTube channel, for yourself below.

The Meg International Trailer Has Scary New Shark Footage

[ad_1]

Sometime during the night, Warner Bros. unleashed the savage first trailer for The Meg. And it's a lot of fun for lovers of shark mayhem. There have been an infinite number of goofy great white flicks released in the past decade, mostly crafted for the SYFY channel. These Z grade schlock fests are mindlessly entertaining and often a blast. Now comes one of these movies made on a decent budget with a pretty kickass cast and some actual thought put into its execution. The results look absolutely delicious. As in an ocean full of Chinese tourists delicious. Now, we get a second trailer tailor made for those Chinese tourists. And it adds in some scary new megalodon footage we didn't get to see the first time around.

This latest trailer showcases how truly jaw-dropping and scary this thriller is going to be in IMAX 3D. The Meg is what the format was made for. We also get a coupe of new international posters that do a good job of showing off the massive size of the beast at the heart of this tale. And it is literally awesome in every sense of the word. This bad bitch puts every other giant shark to shame.

Jason Statham will be the one going up against this mouth full of teeth that is the size of a football field. And he gets to bring acclaimed Chinese actress Li Bingbing along for the ride. Also tagging along is the hugely popular Ruby Rose, who looks just as snarly as ever. Rounding out the international cast of characters is Cliff Curtis (Fear the Walking Dead), Rainn Wilson (The Office, Super), Winston Chao (SkiptraceKabali), Page Kennedy (TV's Rush Hour), Jessica McNamee (The Vow), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (The BFG), Robert Taylor (FocusLongmire), Sophia Shuya Cai (Somewhere Only We Know), and Masi Oka (Hawaii Five-0, Heroes). Here's the official Meg synopsis.

"A deep-sea submersible, which is part of an international undersea observation program, has been chomped on by a huge, hulking beats, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific...with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew, and the ocean itself, from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that, years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature. Now, teamed with Suyin, he must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone trapped below...bringing him face to face once more with the greatest and largest predator of all time."

Warner Bros. tried forever to get this adaptation of Steve Alten's New York Times best-selling book into theaters. Eli Roth was supposed to direct The Meg, but left to do Death Wish with Bruce Willis instead. Stepping into take the helm was John Turteltaub of National Treasure. He is directing the film from a screenplay by Dean Georgaris and Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber. The Meg will bring the summer movie going season to a close in style on August 10, 2018. And judging from the two trailers released thus far, courtesy of Warner Bros., this thing is gong to be a massive hit at the box office that reflects the size and weight of its title creature.

Ocean's 8 Trailer #2: Sandra Bullock Unites Her Team of Thieves

[ad_1]

Following the eight brief trailer previews Warner Bros. released yesterday, the studio has now unveiled the full trailer for Ocean's 8. This video offers more new footage than what was released in the first trailer that debuted back in December, and with this star-studded female lineup led by Sandra Bullock, we could be looking at one of this summer's biggest hits. Here's the official synopsis from Warner Bros.

"Criminal mastermind Debbie Ocean and seven other female thieves try to pull off the heist of the century at New York's annual Met Gala. Their target, a necklace that's worth more than $150 million. Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) attempts to pull off the heist of the century with the perfect crew co-led by Lou (Cate Blanchett); and including Nine Ball (Rihanna); Amita (Mindy Kaling); Constance (Awkwafina); Rose (Helena Bonham Carter); Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway); and Tammy (Sarah Paulson)."

Ocean's 8 could very well be a sleeper hit. That will all depend on how fans react to this trailer and subsequent footage, and it may also depend on a certain cameo appearance being removed. Shortly after the first trailer was released in December, an online petition was formed to persuade Warner Bros. and the filmmakers to remove Matt Damon from the film, who appears in a cameo as his character Linus Caldwell from 2001's Ocean's Eleven, 2004's Ocean's Twelve and 2007's Ocean's Thirteen. The petition was formed after the actor's controversial remarks about sexual harassment, and after reports surfaced that claimed the actor used his influence to stop a 2004 New York Times story that exposed Harvey Weinstein's history of sexual misconduct, which came to light last October in pieces from the New York Times and the New Yorker. The petition currently has 28,846 signatures, just shy of its 30,000 signature goal.

Matt Damon controversy aside, this could have a big impact on the box office this summer. It is still set to debut June 8, with its only competition being A24's low-budget horror movie Hereditary. It was originally slated to open just one week after Deadpool 2, which was set to arrive on June 1 before it was ultimately pushed back a few weeks to May 18. This will give Ocean's 8 some much needed space, and now there will be just Paramount's Action Point and STX Entertainment's Adrift opening on June 1. Ocean's 8 will have to contend with The Incredibles 2 on June 15, along with Superfly and Tag, but its box office prospects have certainly improved, thanks to some release date shifting.

The supporting cast is rounded out by Richard Armitage, Olivia Munn, Dakota Fanning, Jaime King, Katie Holmes, James Corden, Adriana Lima, Zayn Malik, Zac Posen, Anna Wintour, with Carl Reiner also reportedly returning as Saul Bloom from the Ocean's trilogy. Since Sandra Bullock's Debbie Ocean is the sister of George Clooney's Danny Ocean from the trilogy, there has long been rumors that Clooney will have a surprise cameo, but that has yet to be confirmed. Still, even if he doesn't have a cameo, if this movie is successful enough, it could lead to a sequel where these cinematic siblings could share the screen together.

Gary Ross (Seabiscuit) directs Ocean's 8 from a script he co-wrote with Olivia Milch. While we likely won't get any concrete confirmation about a George Clooney cameo, the actor is serving as a producing, alongside Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen director Steven Soderbergh and Susan Ekins. With just a few months left until the June 8 release, it's possible this could be the final trailer, although there is no word yet on how much more footage will be released between now and then. Take a look at the new Ocean's 8 trailer, courtesy of Warner Bros. YouTube.

Dark Crimes Trailer Pulls Jim Carrey Into a Deadly Underworld

[ad_1]

The first trailer for Dark Crimes is here. While you may not have heard of Dark Crimes, or the insane true story that inspired the movie, you've almost certainly heard of Jim Carrey, who stars as the protagonist. Carrey hasn't been acting as much these days, but he returns in a very serious role as an obsessive cop in what looks to be a very gritty true-crime thriller.

Dark Crimes, originally titled True Crimes, is based on David Grann's 2008 New Yorker article titled True Crimes: A postmodern murder mystery. Director Alexandros Avranas (Love Me Not) brings the real-life tale to the screen, with Jim Carrey on board as a detective who becomes obsessed with a murder case. Given Carrey's level of commitment to certain roles he takes on, one has to imagine after watching this trailer that he might have put himself, and those around him, through the ringer while filming this, as it looks to be dark, bleak and very gritty, dealing with some very uncomfortable subject matter. If you've seen the Netflix documentary Jim and Andy: The Great Beyond, you know that Carrey can get a little carried away when he digs into a role.

The movie centers on a police officer named Tadek, who finds similarities between an unsolved murder and a crime outlined in a book by famed writer Krystov Kozlow, played by Martin Csokas. As Tadek begins to track Kozlow and his girlfriend, a mysterious sex club worker played by Charlotte Gainsbourg, his obsession grows and he descends into a criminal underworld, all in order to discover the shocking truth. The trailer doesn't really let on as to what this shocking truth may be, but it certainly hints at quite a few twists and turns along the way. In addition to what looks to be a committed performance from Jim Carrey.

Jim Carrey is still known best for his comedic work, rising to prominence in the 90s with hit movies like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Liar Liar and Dumb and Dumber. But as his career progressed, he started taking on more serious roles in movies like The Truman Show, Man on the Moon and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. These have turned out to be some of his most memorable performances. So the fact that he's taking on another serious role is probably worth paying attention to, even if it is in a mostly VOD movie with a limited theatrical release.

The screenplay for Dark Crimes was written by Jeremy Brock (The Last King of Scotland), and is executive produced by Bron Capital Partners' Patrick Murray, RatPac Entertainment, Kasia Nabialczyk and James Packer. Saban Films is handling distribution. Dark Crimes will first be released April 19 on DirecTV before opening in select theaters and arriving on digital platforms on May 11. Be sure to check out the Dark Crimes trailer, courtesy of the Zero Media YouTube channel, for yourself below.

[ad_1]

Following the new poster released yesterday, Disney Pixar has unveiled the second trailer for Incredibles 2. This animated sequel 14 years in the making is shaping up to be a huge hit during the crowded summer movie season, and this trailer will certainly help build more buzz as we get closer and closer to the June 15 release date. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don't shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That's what makes this family so Incredible.

Bird also directed Pixar Animation Studios' 2007 Oscar®-winning film Ratatouille, as well as 2011's live-action film Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, 2015's Tomorrowland and 1999's BAFTA-winning animated film The Iron Giant.

Along with the returning stars, the cast will also include Sophia Bush as Voyd, a new hero who can manipulate objects by creating voids that allow objects to disappear and reappear in space. She will be joined by Rick Dicker (Jonathan Banks), who was the head of the Super Relocation Program until that program was shuttered, and the nefarious siblings Winston Deavor (Bob Odenkirk) and his sister Evelyn Deavor, who both run a gigantic telecommunications company. The final new character that was recently introduced is The Ambassador (Isabella Rossellini) who is trying to legalize superheroes once again.

Brad Bird directs Incredibles 2 from his own script, marking a return to animation for the filmmaker after directing live-action hits such as Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol and Tomorrowland. The Incredibles earned a whopping $633 million worldwide during its theatrical run in 2004, and it seems quite possible that this sequel could easily best that tally, and it's possible that it could be one of the biggest animated movies of the year. Take a look at this new trailer below, courtesy of Disney Pixar YouTube. Beginning today, there's no better time to celebrate Incredibles 2 than with the first day of Pixar Fest at Disneyland, now through Sept. 3. Check out the new Incredibles 2 trailer.

Mary Shelley Trailer: Elle Fanning Is the Creator of Frankenstein

[ad_1]

The first trailer for Mary Shelley has arrived. Frankenstein is one of the most important books ever written, especially for those who are fans of anything monster related. While the mad scientist and his horrific creation have been brought to the screen many times before, this new movie tells the tale of the author and how she became inspired to write Frankenstein.

Appropriately, this trailer for Mary Shelley has arrived on Friday the 13th, a day generally associated with creepy things. The movie takes a look at the torrid real tale of how a passionate and risque love affair fueled the creation of the trailblazing writers' gothic masterwork. The trailer itself has a very gothic look to it. Sort of like a toned-down Tim Burton movie, which seems fitting, given that this takes place in the 1800s and leads us to the creation of Frankenstein. Elle Fanning (20th Century Women) stars as the titular author. Fanning has definitely proven herself as one of the finest young actresses working in Hollywood today, so that's a good place to start when telling a story like this.

Mary Shelley tells the story of the iconic writer. Raised by a renowned philosopher father (Stephen Dillane) in 18th-century London, Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin (Elle Fanning) is a teenage dreamer determined to make her mark on the world when she meets the dashing and brilliant poet Percy Shelley (Douglas Booth). So begins a steamy, bohemian love affair marked by both passion and personal tragedy that will transform Mary and fuel the writing of Frankenstein. Imbued with the imaginative spirit of its heroine, Mary Shelley brings to life the world of a trailblazing woman who defied convention and channeled her innermost demons into a legend for the ages.

The movie comes from director Haifaa Al-Mansour, who also co-write the script with Emma Jensen. While Al-Mansour doesn't have a ton of experience with narrative features, having a female director's perspective on a movie like this seems absolutely necessary. As we see in the trailer, the early 1800s was not a period of time that was kind to ambitious women, but Mary Shelley pressed on anyway and published Frankenstein, initially anonymously in 1818, which is one of the most iconic works of literature ever. She's an icon of female empowerment and it seems fitting that a woman gets to tell her story.

IFC Films will release Mary Shelley in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on May 25, with the movie hitting VOD and digital platforms on June 1. So, if you want to see this in a theater, you may have to hope that it gets some sort of expanded, limited run if you don't live in LA or New York City. Bel Powley, Joanne Froggatt, Tom Sturridge and Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams also star in the movie, which is produced by Amy Baer, Alan Moloney and Ruth Coady. Be sure to check out the first trailer for Mary Shelley, courtesy of the IFC Films YouTube channel, for yourself below.

Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore & Friends Are Back in Christopher Robin Trailer #2

[ad_1]

With the release date only a few months away, Disney has dropped the first full trailer for Christopher Robin, the live-action reboot about the lovable stuffed bear Winnie the Pooh. Unlike the brief teaser that released in March, this trailer finally shows the entire beloved population of the Hundred Acre Wood.

Of all of the live-action Disney reboots, Christopher Robin may actually be the most exciting for a number of Disney fans. Rather than re-telling a story that everyone already knows like Beauty and the Beast or The Lion King, Christopher Robin will tell a new story featuring some of the most beloved characters ever brought to the screen by Disney. Over 40 years after the first Winnie the Pooh movie, Christopher Robin brings the cherished characters back to the big screen, but this time in live-action, and a couple decades years later.

Christopher Robin stars, as the name suggests, Christopher Robin, who is now a hard-working adult played by Star Wars star Ewan McGregor. The latest trailer finally gives more insight to the movie's plot, showing the conflict that Christopher Robin will face as the movie progresses. Robin, like most adults, is overworked and stressed from his job and doesn't have enough time to spend with his family. However, a sudden appearance from his childhood friend Winnie the Pooh brings him back to the old days, and makes him see what is important in life.

If the movie is as heartwarming as the latest trailer, then it will undoubtedly be a great trip to the theater for any Disney fan. Many of the live-action Disney reboots try to market themselves toward people who enjoyed the original movies in their childhood, using nostalgia as a clever way to put people into theater seats. Not only does the new Christopher Robin trailer manage to do this brilliantly, but it also brings the factor of dealing with adulthood into the mix. Considering that their largest target audiences is adults who grew up on Winnie the Pooh, making the plot and conflict about struggling with adulthood and work will certainly make the movie much more relatable for the target demographic.

However, the most exciting part about the latest Christopher Robin was undoubtedly the return of the classic characters. The first teaser only showed Winnie the Pooh at the very ending, but this time around, the trailer opens up right away with Winnie, along with everyone else from the Hundred Acre Wood. The movie is bringing back all of the classics, including Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Owl, Rabbit, Kanga, and Roo. Some of the newer Winnie the Pooh characters like Heffalump are notably absent, which may be disappointing to younger audiences, but the inclusion of the originals still makes it exciting.

All in all, the callbacks and heartwarming tone of the latest Christopher Robin trailer from Disney prove that this live-action reboot will not be one to miss. Moments like Christopher Robin getting stuck in a tree and Eeyore floating in the river under the bridge show that Christopher Robin will truly be a great, nostalgic ride for everyone who grew up with these treasured characters.

Blumhouse's Upgrade Red Band Trailer Is a Bloody Recommendation

[ad_1]

Saw and Insidious co-creator Leigh Whannell is trying his hand at sci-fi in the upcoming Upgrade. However, this isn't your normal sci-fi affair as evidenced by the new Red Band trailer, which is just as gory as any horror movie, if not more. The Blumhouse produced Upgrade is set to hit theaters next week and the latest trailer focuses on the blood and the praise the critics have been heaping on the film, with loud gunshots punctuating each word that pops up on the screen.

The ultra-violent Upgrade red band trailer is definitely not safe for work or watching around children for that matter. The violent vision of the future has been talked about since its SXSW premiere earlier this year, where it took home the Midnight Audience Award, and the latest trailer is here to help persuade you to get off the couch and into theaters next week to see it on the big screen in all of its bloody glory. If you're looking for the setup, this trailer is not for you. Instead, this is a highlight reel, ready to knock anybody off the fence and into theaters.

Logan Marshall-Green stars as Grey Trace, who is on the hunt for the men who murdered his wife right before his eyes and left him unable to walk. Trace is later approached by a billionaire investor who offers him an experimental cure to his paralysis with an implant called STEM, but the tech ends up having a lot more power than just curing Trace's paralysis. Grey Trace is now a futuristic killer with immense power and the ability to "relentlessly claim vengeance against those who murdered his wife and left him for dead."

The setup of Upgrade does not seem unique on the surface. Man's wife is killed, revenge, super weapons, etc. However, Blumhouse and Leigh Whannell have taken the story and turned it on its head, which should not be surprising considering the success that Blumhouse has had over the last few years. The full-tilt action paired with the horror and sci-fi elements makes sure that Upgrade stands apart from anything else that will be shown this summer on the big screen. With Sicario 2 also set to hit theaters in a few weeks, the summer is starting to look a bit darker than normal. Who doesn't need some dark violence this summer?

As previously mentioned, Upgrade hits theaters on June 1st, which is just around the corner. If you're into intense action with sci-fi and horror elements, there should be no holding you back from seeing the movie in theaters. Just take a look at the 1-minute Red Band trailer and try to read the praise from critics amidst the blood, chaos, broken bones, sliced mouths, and jarringly loud gunshots. Upgrade looks to be a full assault on the senses and you can get a taste below.

Hotel Artemis Trailer: Check Into Jodie Foster's Hospital for Criminals

[ad_1]

No guns. No cops. No killing the other patients. Surprising everyone during last night's The Walking Dead Season 8 finale, a first-ever teaser trailer was unexpectedly dropped for Hotel Artemis. And it looked like an intriguing bit of fun. The chaos and mayhem shown didn't quite add up or make sense. Though it came with the promise of the full trailer today. It's arrived, and this looks like a blast.

It's time to check in to Hotel Artemis with the brand new trailer. Set in riot-torn, near-future Los Angeles, Hotel Artemis is an original, high-octane action-thriller starring Jodie Foster as The Nurse, who runs a secret, members-only hospital for criminals. Jodie Foster is joined by an all-star cast that includes Sterling K. Brown, Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum, Brian Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto, Charlie Day, and Dave Bautista. The movie hits theaters June 8, 2018!

Jodie Foster stars as "Nurse", with Sterling K. Brown playing "Waikiki", Sofia Boutella as "Nice", Jeff Goldblum as "The Wolf King/Niagara", Brian Tyree Henry as "Honolulu", Jenny Slate as "Morgan", Zachary Quinto as "Ilya". The cast is rounded out by Charlie Day as "Acapulco" and Dave Bautista as "Everest".

From the footage, this very much looks like it could fit perfectly into the world of John Wick, and who knows, maybe there will be a crossover some day. Drew Pearce wrote and directed this unique take on the seedy underbelly of crime.

Drew Pearce marks his feature directorial debut with Hotel Artemis. On the directing side, he's known for helming the Marvel One-Shot All Hail the King, which starred Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, and tied into Iron Man 3. He has also directed some short films and music videos. On the writing side, he penned the screenplay for Iron Man 3, and most recently worked on Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation. He is currently penning an untitled Ghostbusters project, and has been hired by Team Downey to work on the Sherlock Holmes 3 script. He also did the screenplay for The Billion Brick Race.

Hotel Artemis is Produced by Marc Platt, Adam Siegel, and Stephen Cornwell. The movie is being released in the States by Lionsgate, which owns Summit Entertainment, home to John Wick, so a surprise tie-in wouldn't be out of the question and is very possible. The Hotel Artemis bares more than just a passing resemblance to that franchise's The Continental Hotel, which is also a safe haven for criminals. Lionsgate is currently turning The Continental into a TV series.

Hotel Artemis is cool in that it ushers Jodie Foster back to the big screen after a five year hiatus from acting. She last appeared alongside Matt Damon in director Neill Blomkamp's Elysium. She's kept busy behind the camera, so she wasn't really taking a break from the industry by any means. She directed two stand-out episodes of Orange is the New Black, as well as the critically acclaimed Arkangel episode of Black Mirror which had its premiere in 2017. She also directed the George Clooney thriller Money Monster and has been working on the TV movie Charlie. She is also executive producing the documentary Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché. Though, it's exciting to see her finally get in front of the camera doing what she arguably does best.

Hold onto your belt loops, this is going to be one wicked ride. You can check out all the carnage and action of Hotel Artemis in the trailer below thanks to Lionsgate.

Soft Matter Trailer Wants to Be Shape of Water Meets Get Out

[ad_1]

Love The Shape of Water? Absolutely adore Get Out? Well, then, someone has made a movie just for you. And it's really short, so if it sucks, you don't have to worry about wasting much of your time. That's right, we have the first trailer for Soft Matter, and, well, you can check out the trailer for yourself.

If you've seen Guillermo Del Toro's The Shape of Water, which walked away with Best Picture at this year's Oscars, then you'll notice more than a passing resemblance to that monster drama just from the Soft Matter poster alone. It's easy to confuse the two. And it doesn't help that Wild Eye releasing are pushing that point home in their promotional materials for the movie.

"The Shape of Water meets Get Out in the unique Sci-fi Horror Soft Matter, premiering on VOD 5/22 from Wild Eye Releasing."

RONN!E from SciFiMonkeys.com goes one step further in claiming that, "It's like Shape of Water swimming in electrified horror." Jim Hickcox's feature debut tells of two graffiti artists that break into an abandoned, reportedly haunted research facility in hopes of creating an art installation, but stumble upon a team of demented researchers who are in the process of resurrecting an ancient sea creature, who they now must fight in order to not become their next experiment.

Ruby Lee Dove II, Hal Schneider, and Mary Anzalone star in a "fiercely original and incredibly entertaining masterpiece" (A Word of Dreams). Jim Hickcox has made a name for himself with several short films such as Slow Creep, The Rise of Kenji Gojira and Divine Urine. He got his start in the Camera and Electrical Department, and has worked on over 30 projects over the past couple years, honing his craft.

Leading lady Ruby Lee Dove II is also more known for her work in short films, with Soft Matter one of her biggest projects to date. Hal Schneider has a similar resume. As does Mary Anzalone, so this could really be a big break out for any and all of these actors. The thriller really seems to be banking on its premise and the fact that maybe you liked The Shape of Water enough to check this out.

The first trailer and poster for Soft Matter arrive direct from Wild Eye releasing. You can check out what it's all about and wonder if this is something you really want to devote your time too. It's maybe good for a laugh or a scare.

Final Jurassic World 2 Trailer Has Dinos Attacking the Mainland

[ad_1]

A brand new trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has arrived. The Jurassic Park franchise was revived a few years ago with the first Jurassic World, after the third installment put the series to bed for 14 years. Seeing a fully-functioning dinosaur Disneyland appealed to viewers all around the world and now, we're just a few months away from seeing the next installment. While this movie may run the risk of seeming a bit obligatory to some, it certainly looks as though this will be quite a bit different, in that it will be much scarier and will be bringing dinosaurs to the mainland.

Director J.A. Bayona has a history with horror, having directed The Orphanage, as well as a couple of episodes of Penny Dreadful. Based on this new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom footage, it looks very much like he's bringing those sensibilities to this movie. While dinosaurs eating people always comes with a certain amount of terror, Jurassic World definitely had much more of an action/adventure feel to it. With shots of that Indoraptor in the little girl's bedroom and the Mosasaurus loose in the ocean, there's a lot more straight-up scary going on here.

Colin Trevorrow, director of Jurassic World, returns as an executive producer and co-writer for Jurassic World 2. He wrote the script with his frequent collaborator Derek Connolly. Universal has already announced that Jurassic World 3 is set to arrive in theaters on June 11, 2021. In addition to co-writing the script for the finale of this new trilogy with franchise newcomer Emily Carmichael, Trevorrow will return to the director's chair once more. Point being, Fallen Kingdom will leave the door wide open for the narrative to continue, but it's not clear just how that's going to play out. We know for sure that the volcanic eruption is going to force the dinosaurs off of Isla Nublar. So maybe we're heading for something like Dawn of the Planet of the Dinosaurs here.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing respectively in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, with B.D. Wong also back as Dr. Henry Wu and Jeff Goldblum reprising his role as Ian Malcolm. The cast also includes Ted Levine, James Cromwell, Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith and Geraldine Chaplin. Sadly, Laura Dern, as far as we know, isn't going to cameo as Ellie Sattler, but her return has been possibly teased for Jurassic World 3.

Jurassic World grossed $1.67 billion at the worldwide box office, making it one of the highest-grossing movies of all time. So it's no surprise that we're getting this sequel. The question is, can it possibly do as well at the box office? And, more importantly for moviegoers, can it actually be good? We'll know soon enough, as Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom arrives in theaters on June 22. Be sure to check out the brand new trailer, courtesy of Universal Pictures, for yourself below.

Hereditary Trailer: This Creepy Kid Will Haunt Your Nightmares

[ad_1]

A24 Films has released the new trailer for their upcoming thriller Hereditary, which has been terrifying film festival goers all year long, ahead of its theatrical debut this summer. This trailer focuses on Charlie (Milly Shapiro), the youngest member of the Graham family, whose behavior has been quite strange as of late, as you can see in the footage below. Along with this new trailer, fans can even get in the Hereditary spirit by purchasing some items on Etsy, which benefit a good cause.

When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter's family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited. Making his feature debut, writer-director Ari Aster unleashes a nightmare vision of a domestic breakdown that exhibits the craft and precision of a nascent auteur, transforming a familial tragedy into something ominous and deeply disquieting, and pushing the horror movie into chilling new terrain with its shattering portrait of heritage gone to hell.

Charlie has a bizarre penchant for arts and crafts, with A24 taking this plot point to the next level by creating a new Etsy page for Charlie Graham. While there is currently nothing available for sale, A24 has revealed that there will be new items added to this shop every week, with all proceeds going to Kids With Food Allergies, an organization dedicated to improving the day-to-day lives of families raising children with food allergies. While there is nothing currently on the Etsy site (Crafts by Charlie), you can take a look at the three bizarre items "Charlie" has sold so far.

The Graham family also includes Toni Collette as Charlie's mother Annie Graham, alongside Gabriel Byrne as Charlie's father Steve Graham and Alex Wolff as Charlie's brother Peter Graham. The supporting cast is rounded out by Ann Dowd, Mallory Bechtel and Zachary Arthur. The film marks the feature debut of writer-director Ari Aster, who wrote and directed a number of short films before making his breakout feature debut with Hereditary, which made some big waves after debuting at Sundance in January and SXSW in March. The film still boasts a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes out of 26 reviews, so it will be interesting to see how that number fluctuates as we get closer to the theatrical release.

A24 Films has handed out a June 8 release date for Hereditary, putting it up against Warner Bros.' Ocean's Eight in wide release, with Focus Films also putting out Won't You Be My Neighbor on that date in limited release. The trailer, which comes courtesy of A24 Films YouTube, also features a number of excerpts from the glowing reviews of Hereditary, which could be one of the most talked-about sleeper hits this summer. Take a look at the new trailer for Hereditary below.

Jurassic Games Trailer Is Jurassic Park Meets Hunger Games on Steroids

[ad_1]

Have you ever wondered privately what it might be like if the Jurassic Park franchise was thrown in a blender with The Hunger Games, but given a very small budget in order to make it happen? Probably not, but The Jurassic Games trailer is here to show you what that looks like. As it so happens, it looks exactly how you might expect it to look and, depending on your love for low-budget B-movie action, that is either going to be a great or terrible thing.

This trailer, in a not at all surprising bit of convenient timing, just so happened to drop on the same day that the final trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom arrived. Coincidence? Likely not. And if you're one of the people who just can't find a reason to get excited about a fifth Jurassic Park movie, this may serve as a schlocky substitute. The Jurassic Games looks like it could be the guilty pleasure streaming movie of the year, assuming that the movie winds up on a major streaming service at some point. One can only hope, because does anyone really want to actually put up folding money for something like this?

The movie takes place in a not-too-distant future that sees ten death row inmates compete in a virtual reality game show called, you guessed it, The Jurassic Games. They are forced to fight dinosaurs as well as each other in order to survive, because dying in the game means death in real life. Our protagonist is Anthony Tucker, a man who has been wrongfully convicted of murdering his wife. He can be reunited with his children if he wins, but unfortunately for him, that's easier said than done. The game's nefarious host adds increasingly difficult challenges for the contestants and, just like The Hunger Games, there can only be one winner.

If anyone remembers the Gerard Butler movie Gamer, there are definitely elements of that thrown into the mix for good measure here as well. The Jurassic Games comes from writer/director Ryan Bellgardt, the man responsible for other such creations as Gremlin (not Gremlins) and Army of Frankensteins. So, for better or for worse, this seems to be right in his wheelhouse. The cast for the movie includes Adam Hampton (The Harvesters), Ryan Merriman (Final Destination 3) and Perrey Reeves (Old School).

If you're looking to get your hands on the movie, Jurassic Games arrives on VOD platforms this summer on June 12. That just so happens to be a little more than a week ahead of the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on June 22. If you're feeling like you need a hard copy of the movie for your collection, the DVD arrives on July 3. Sorry for those who were hoping to see this in Blu-ray quality. Be sure to check out the trailer for The Jurassic Games, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, for yourself below.
